This guides you through the process of optimizing your manual targeting campaign based on the insights learned from your running auto targeting campaign.

1. Download Manual Campaign Reports

Download the “Campaign Report” and the “Detailed Target Performance” Report to identify high-performing targets.

2. Analyze the Reports

Check which keywords and categories generated views, clicks, revenue and ROAS.

3. Change Campaign Settings

Apply the Recommended Bid for High-Performing Targets or Increase it

How to Apply the Recommended Bid

Apply the recommended bid for the target by clicking on the “Apply” button in the recommended bid column on the Targets Tab

You can also set recommended bids for targets in bulk by selecting the targets you want to adjust the bids for then clicking on “Apply”.

How to Increase the Bid

Click on the pencil icon near the bid in the bid column, input a higher amount, then click on update.

You can also bulk change bids for targets by selecting the targets, then clicking on change bids, selecting the option from the drop-down ( Increase bid by %, increase bid by amount, or set bid to ), and then clicking on update

Increase Your Top-of-Search Placement Bid

When: If you see a high performance (Sales, ROAS) on Top of Search.

How to Increase Top-of-Search Placement Bid

Click on the pencil icon near the bid amount in the bid column on the Placements Tab; enter a higher amount in the editable field; and finally, click on “Update”.

Remove Low-Performing Targets

Toggle them off in the “Targeting” tab of the performance page of the campaign.

Add Negative Keywords

When: Keywords generate high clicks/spend but no sales, or are irrelevant.

How to Add Negative Targets

Click on “Campaign Edit”.

Select “Negative Targeting”.

Add the negative Keywords in a comma-separated list; click “Add Keywords” and finally, click “Save & Next”.

4. Focus on High-Performing SKU

If a SKU has 0 sales despite high bids and clicks after 7–14 days, advertise better-performing SKUs.

How to Stop Advertising Low-Performing SKUs

Toggle it off in the Active Column of the Products Tab of the Performance Page.

How to Add More SKUs to Advertise

In the Campaign Edit page, click on the “Product Selection”.

Select SKUs to advertise from the list or search for the SKUs you want to advertise, then click on “Save & Next”.

You can also bulk upload SKUs by uploading a file or copy-pasting SKUs, then clicking on “Save & Next”.

5. Monitor Regularly

When: The campaign has been running for less than 7 days and there is enough data available.
